Expanded operator interface
Previous releases of SAM-FS had two levels of privilege; an administrator
with super-user privilege, and users with customary user only privilege. With
the 3.1 release, a new level designated as Operator has been introduced.
This allows a site administrator to define an Operator group that is
not super-user privileged, but has the ability to perform Operator type
functions to the system. The robottool, devicetool, and previewtool are
affected by this change.
There are additional improvements to the GUI tools:
- ability to change the font family for GUI tools
- speed improvements in the area of catalog display
- resizable mount requests window in the previewtool
- automatic sizing of robottool to minimize display space usage
The non-GUI administrator interface called samu has been revised to include
additional real-time status information about the media equipment and general
state of the archiving and staging.
